Slow Blogging

Some time ago, I joined up with blog, Knotted Cotton , whose author, Catherine, has established a support blog for fellow bloggers who might, or might not, blog on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
Whew … once I read her manifesto, I felt relief. I was getting uptight if I didn't have a blog page up every few days. Why was that ? I am relaxed now, as you may have noticed. It has finally dawned on me.

The Slow Blog Manifesto
Slow Bloggers salute those amazingly productive bloggers who can show a big mosaic of makes at the end of each month - we are among your most admiring and avid readers. Slow Bloggers generally worry that they are not so good at juggling the requirements of life, households, jobs and crafting.

There is, also, a short list of declarations on her page 'Slow Blog Manifesto' that you might like to read if you, too, are feeling the pressure.

Thanks Catherine … I don't know why I didn't figure this out before !

  1. Beautiful picture. And yes, I do blog for me. It IS my journal. Whatever I can do to motivate myself works. But I won't be posting any mosaics. LOL

    1. Thanks Elle … I love that you allow me lurk on the periphery of your journal and I always enjoy what you have to share, especially when you get together with your grandchildren ;) And I SO appreciate your comments !
I DO find my blog motivating to myself … but should I expect to motivate others ? I think that old desire to 'please' may be the culprit. There is the pressure I feel.
I am a slow artist as well as being a slow blogger ... and you won't find any mosaics from me either !

  2. You maybe a slow blogger but I always enjoy your posts and seeing your gentle, beautifully stitched work.
I agree with Elle - I blog for me too. It helps me formulate my thoughts and review my work, and actually, I enjoy writing and putting a post together. Still, I will visit Catherine's blog for release of pressure for those times when I don't get around to posting.
    Thank you for sharing.

    1. Thank you so much CS for your very lovely compliment.
I never imagined that I would get so much pleasure from writing and I enjoy the whole process of putting photos and art and words together. I won't stop but I'll slow down.
I originally got my Mac because the larger screen allows me to view my art from a different perspective and seeing it in a blog is just another dimension.
      Thank you both !

  6. I am happier to read thoughtful blogs occasionally rather than rushed blogs put up because you 'have' to. I agree it is a lovely photo, very in keeping with the slow movement!

    1. Aussie Jo, I agree so much about the pleasure of reading thoughtful blogs rather than rushed ones put up because you feel you ought to. Thank you Sharron for starting these thoughts ... Your blog is definitely one of these and always sets me thinking.
