The Second Biennial Fibre Content Exhibition
The response from the artists was enthusiastic and the 2014 Fibre Content Exhibition promises to be an excellent follow up to the inaugural 2012 show.
This year’s show will feature the best of contemporary Canadian fibre art — a wide range of works in fibre and mixed media: fabric, paper, yarn, thread and various mixed materials.
The show will be held at the
(formerly the Burlington Art Centre),
1333 Lakeshore Road, Burlington,
September 9-16, 2014.
Admission is free
Gallery Hours are:
Monday to Thursday 9:00am to 10:00pm,
Friday and Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm,
Sunday noon to 5:00pm.
The 2014 Fibre Content Exhibition is juried by
Emma Quin, Executive Director of the Ontario Crafts Council,
Virginia Eichhorn, Director and Chief Curator of the Tom Thomson Art Gallery, and
Sandra Dupret, Dean/Principal of the Fleming College Haliburton Campus.
In the Second Fibre Content Show, Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) Central Canada Division is joined by Burlington Fibre Arts Guild, Burlington Handweavers and Spinners Guild, Burlington Hooking Craft Guild, Connections Fibre Artists, Grand Guild of Fibre Artists, Group of Eight Fibre Artists and Oakville Fibre Arts Guild.
The jurors reviewed 208 submissions – a difficult task given the quality and variety of work that was entered. The full-colour catalogue will include pictures of all 124 pieces in the show, featuring the three Juror Choices. This will be a keepsake item, as was the 2012 catalogue !
